Anti d injection

Post by Yvo1977 »

Hi

I found out we had a csp on 28 November and treated with methotrexate, 😢 still waiting on hcg lowering to o before I can start folic acid.

I’m rhesus negative and found out today from nurse that I should have been given anti d injection after methotrexate but this was never given, I was 9wks pregnant

Does anyone know how this will affect future pregnancy

Awaiting call back from doctor but really worried

Many thanks

Hi Yvo,

I'm the same. Although I have had the infection this time (however i had internal bleeding from my ep), I've been told I'll need it each time in pregnant. I wouldn't worry too much if you have not been given it this time, they might just give you the dose earlier next time.

Just speak with your gp to check if you need it but don't worry about it. It won't cause you any harm by waiting for it.

Hope this helps

The hospital have told me that they have emailed doctor but she is unfortunately on annual leave so won’t know if I can try again for baby in future. I was just so heartbroken when I discovered I had ectopic pregnancy, never thought that I would need anti d injection then

Many thanks for your comment ❤️

Dear YVO1977,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your queries and would advise speaking to your GP when they are back from leave.
From reading NHS literature, Anti-D is routinely given to women who require it as 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy to women who are not already sensitised. I would therefore read that to mean it shouldn't cause any issues in early pregnancy. I would however discuss this with your GP to be sure.
For now, be kind to yourself and allow time to grieve, to heal both physically and emotionally.
Sending much love,
Karen x
