Short periods after ectopic pregnancy

Post by lallan »

Hi there
I had an ectopic pregnancy in July of 2017. I had laproscopic surgery to remove and repair my ruptured tube and I had one injection of methyltrexate. After the healing process my period returned and was just like before approx. 5 days long. Now, several months later my periods are still regular but they are very short. Only 1-3 days long. Should I be worried?

Thanks
Lisa

Dear Lisa,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss.
Sadly I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your symptoms.
I have added a link to an NHS site which states, periods can last between 3 and 8 days, but it will usually last for about 5 days.
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/periods/

If your periods are regularly one to two days and you are concerned, don't hesitate to chat to your GP. Perhaps, keep a diary to take with you.

Sending much love,
Karen x

Hi,
I had an ectopic pregnancy in June 2017 and had emergency surgery to remove the pregnancy and my left tube. My cycle used to be 28 days and lasted about 4 days in total. It is now 27 days and only lasts around 2 days. I am not sure if it is normal but wanted you to know that someone else is experiencing the same.

I had a similar situation and my gyno was concerned that my endometrium lining wouldn't be thick enough for embryo to implant if it was shedding in two days. But I managed to conceive despite this. I'd keep a diary though and maybe see a gyno. I used kindara app and gave my gyno the print outs.
