Hello
I’ve made it through Christmas and having found it very difficult I wanted to pop a note on here to people who get it!
I had an ectopic and emergency surgery last Christmas, two months later my partner left me in a particularly Nasty way- which meant moving back to the U.K. so I’ve Had a bit of a Busy year rebuilding a life. After the ectopic I thought the best way to recover was to try and get pregnant again fast- but that option was whipped away from me.

I’m a lot more settled and strong but because it’s all been so crazy I don’t think I’ve dealt with the loss of a baby and of a tube and dont really know where to start with the sadness that still seems like a big black hole if I think about it.
I can talk about it now and not get upset, but once in a while I get the overwhelming need to cry my eyes out!
Perhaps it’s a new year thing and leaving a tough year behind!
Any tips on finding some kind of closure or is it just time xxx

Hi Frankie1984,

I am so sorry to hear that you've suffered this ectopic pregnancy and loss. My heart goes out to you and each of us experiences recovery in different ways and at different times. There isn't a set pathway or a particular timeframe. It's one of the reasons we often encourage women to really take things slowly and be very kind and gentle to themselves after ectopic pregnancies. As you've seen these Boards of filled with women and men who are bound by this unfortunate experience.

The Trust also recommends "talking therapies" as a way to help in recovery as well. You can ask to see a GP at your practice and ask them to explore ways in which you can get help and this can include referrals for "talking therapies" or counselling. The charity, Mind, may also be of assistance. They have local centres and support groups and can offer services on a means-tested basis or sometimes free. You can find your local centre following this link if that may be useful too: http://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/local-minds/

From the bottom of my heart, please be kind to yourself through your recovery. We are here for you whenever you need.

With warm wishes,

Michele
