Early shoulder pain?

Post by Poppy80 »

I had an ectopic just over a year ago and didn't really have any symptoms other than some bleeding to indicate what was going on. I was lucky but still needed the tube removed and after the surgery, experienced shoulder tip pain.

Yesterday I felt a few twinges in my shoulder and this morning I took a test (I'm on day 28 of my cycle). I think I can see a positive line and have felt a few more twinges. I'm worrying it could be an early symptom but may also be overthinking it. It doesn't feel like the same kind of shoulder pain I don't think and it would be quite early.

My remaining left tube is apparently healthy - I had my son a few years ago and ovulated from the left side with him and also had an HSG test to check the tube in February. So while I know the increased risks of another ectopic, I also think it shouldn't be this high given this tube should be ok.

Can anyone let me know how early shoulder pain can present as a symptom for ectopic pregnancy?

Hi Poppy80,

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this worrying time. I'm not medically qualified and cannot comment on your specific situation. You may want to repeat the pregnancy test to see if a more clear answer appears. Certainly, if you are feeling increasing pain, it's very reasonable to reach out to your GP to discuss it with them. It is quite early in your cycle, but for your peace of mind, it may be worthwhile.

With good wishes,

Michele
