Second ectopic or miscarriage?

Post by Nadine194 »

I had my first ectopic pregnancy in 2017 which was undiagnosed for 6 weeks before a consultant finally suggested it was ectopic because my hgc levels had plateaued for such a long time. I had left tube removal and it was quite traumatic for me. The following year I was lucky enough to have my daughter <3
Now I am unsure if I am having another ectopic. I had mid cycle spotting and my GP told me to do a pregnancy test which was positive, however two blood tests had results of 66 and 65 so I know it’s not viable. I am very anxious that my remaining tube is at risk. My spotting stopped after a week which I feel is not enough to indicate the loss of the pregnancy. I am getting some slight twinges in my ‘good’ side and had discomfort going to the toilet. The EPAU have said they will do another blood test at the end of next week but I am so anxious that I have to wait that long. They said it wasn’t worth doing a scan as my levels were so low and nothing would be seen.
Should I push to be seen sooner or just trust them? My previous experience does not fill me with confidence :(

Dear Nadine194,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and of your current loss. My heart truly goes out to you.
It is a very sad and difficult time and it is made more difficult when we do not know what is happening to our bodies.
Your hCG levels are low however I would be guided on your symptoms and how you feel and if anything worsens I would seek urgent medical advice and request blood tests more frequently.

Sending you much love and gentle hugs,
Karen x

Thank you Karen

I just found written somewhere that last time my levels were only 60, and even at that low level I had a large growth in my tube.

I’m going to call them on Monday and ask for a sooner test. Thanks again x
