Laparoscopy Stitches

Post by Hannah_Lou1993 »

Morning all,

I had a laparoscopy for ruptured ectopic 3 weeks ago. I was told that all my stitches were dissolvable, they were clear in colour and have all now dissolved.

However, I still have one stitch that is a lot thicker and a dark blue colour. It doesn't look very dissolvable, but wondering if it might just take a bit longer!

Has anyone had similar?

Thank you x

Dear Hannah_lou,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Sometimes the sutures do not fully dissolve. I would advise booking an appointment with your practice nurse at your GP surgery who will be able to assess the sound and suture and remove it if necessary.

Sending much love,
Karen x

Hi, sorry to hear about your experience and hope you’re healing well. I was wondering if you managed to get an explanation from EPU? I went through a salpingectomy 2 days ago and had a similar question on the stitches appearing on the other side of the tube removal.
