Advice please x

Post by LauraViolet »

Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone has gone through similar. I had a ‘pregnancy of unknown location’ back in November 2020 which was treated just with expectant management as my hgc was pretty low. My progesterone was low also.
I found out a few weeks ago I was pregnant again and was referred for an early scan. I went on Thursday to be told there was no sac and perhaps it was too early . My Hgc and progesterone came back fine so was booked in for another scan yesterday. Still no sac but have a fibroid they said could be hiding it . My hgc was around 2400 and because they said they should be able to see a sac at those levels and the levels weren’t as high as they would expect since Thursday they are treating it as ectopic/ pregnancy of unknown location. This has hit us like a tonne of bricks because I have no bleeding and no pain or anything that made me think this was happening again. They’ve given me option of methotrexate (which I am really not keen to get for various reasons) or a laparoscopy to try find out what’s going on down there and why this has happened a second time. They’ve also booked me in for another scan tomorrow morning just to be sure but I can’t get my hopes up because they’ve more or less told me there’s no hope. Has anyone ever been in this situation before and it’s turned out okay? I feel my pregnancy symptoms have also disappeared but don’t know if that’s in my head. Thanks so much x

Dear Laura,
I am so sorry to hear of the worrying time you are going through. I think the not knowing can sometimes be the hardest part.
I had similar but this was 12 years ago so I forget the numbers. My hCG levels were high enough that they should have seen something, but sadly they didn't. I had to return for bloods and a scan some days later and this time there was a sac and a week later a heartbeat.
Sadly I cannot predict if this will happen for you too but I hope one positive story might help.
If you do not get the news we all want you to hear, we will be here for you for as long as you need,
Sending much love,

Hey thanks very much for your reply. The last few days have been a whirlwind.
I had to go back to hospital on Tuesday with pain down my right side and they wanted to admit me but I refused because they wanted me to stay in the maternity ward which messed with my head! They said they understood and because all my ob’s seemed fine and I live so close that was okay . I went up yesterday for a scan and they found the pregnancy in my tube . They gave me the option of methotrexate or surgery . Something in my head just told me as much as I didn’t want to, to go for the surgery and I am
So glad I did because the pregnancy was pretty large and near rupture! I’m so grateful I still have my life . I’ve lost a tube but I actually feel okay about it because it’s better to have a healthy tube than a healthy tube and a bad tube and this maybe could have happened every time xx
