Hormones after tube removal

Post by bethysaur »

Hey everyone

I’m 7 days post tube removal following my ectopic. Thankfully I’m physically healing quite well however mentally I’m a complete mess.

It’s been a ridiculously stressful 4 weeks trying to treat the ectopic before I ruptured, and the build up to Christmas isn’t helping either with everyone getting their sparkle on and all I want to do is scream at the universe.

I do think on top of this though the sudden pregnancy hormone drop after my tube removal isn’t helping things at all. I know it’s going to take a while to grieve and process everything but I’m having random crying fits seemingly out of nowhere with no obvious trigger.

Has anyone got any tips for easing the baby blues? I’m already on sertraline for anxiety so if it remains bad I can talk to my GP about upping my dose but I was wondering if there are any supplements or anything that might just help my body level out my hormones for now so I’m not so up and down.

Dear bethysaur,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,
I am sorry but I'm not aware of any thing to take to help hormones.
When we experience ectopic pregnancy we are suddenly faced with a life threatening emergency and it's treatment, concerns about the future, reduction in fertility and the loss of our babies. Experiencing any one of these is an ordeal, putting them together is immense and your feelings are completely normal.
Ectopic pregnancy can be a very traumatic experience for some and we know that it takes on average around 3 months to even begin to process traumatic events such as these. So be kind to yourself, allow time to grieve and heal both physically and emotionally.

Sending much love,
Karen x
