Ectopic pregnancy recovery

Post by Bo_Bemma »

We’re on our second round of IVF, having previously had 2 frozen embryos which both resulted in miscarriages. This time we were able to have a fresh embryo transfer which resulted in an ectopic pregnancy and surgery. Having had the highs of strong positive test results and bloods, to the lowest of lows learning of the ectopic and need for immediate surgery, how do we remain optimistic and excited for our future attempts? Any advice and/or common experiences would be very much appreciated.

Dear Bo_Bemma,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss and miscarriage losses. To experience one loss is difficult, dealing with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you. It is difficult to bounce back to that optimism and excitement following losses. I know when I next fell pregnant, I did nothing but worry until my early scans, you have friends here who understand how you are feeling.
I am not sure I have any specific techniques, but these boards are full with people who have had successful pregnancies following loss and reading their stories certainly gave me hope. Know that we will be here for you too.

Sending much love and warm hugs,
Karen x

So sorry you’re going through this. I have a long history of infertility and IVF too. I understand how you feel. I’m coming up to 5 weeks post op on Wednesday and I still find it very emotionally hard.
I’ve been trying to focus on something positive - planning a little break and enjoying time with my husband. I’m hoping when I’m ready to try again I will find that I naturally feel a bit more ready and positive. I’m sure filled with anxiety too though. X
