The EPT Hike towards Healing

Join us

Hiking Helvellyn is an incredible challenge with rewarding panoramic views of the Lake District, a sense of achievement, and an opportunity to support a cause close to your heart. Let’s climb together, reflect, and celebrate the strength it takes to heal and move forward.

For many people after a difficult experience, connecting with nature and being in the outdoors can be a powerful step on the path towards healing – and we often hear this from people we speak to after an ectopic pregnancy. To support this, we launch our new Hike towards Healing, specifically for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and our supporters, led by experienced guides and alongside others who have experienced ectopic pregnancy.

The route is mainly accessible mountain paths, with no technical terrain to speak of, which can be covered by anyone with a reasonable level of base fitness. The Take A Hike team ensure people stick together and guide the group to accommodate all abilities.

This is a breath-taking challenge hike that introduces people to the mountains and their potential Wainwright journey in an enjoyable and engaging way.

Come for the climb, stay for the community. Sign up, challenge yourself, and make this an inspiring weekend to remember. Together, let’s take steps toward healing – one stride, one view, and one story at a time!

Make a weekend of it!

From cosy inns to lakeside lodges, the Lake District has many welcoming places to unwind and recharge after the hike. There are some local tourist websites that can help you find somewhere to unwind after a day on the mountain:

Hear from our October 2024 hikers

The Take a Hike UK guides, Ben and Gareth, were joined by The EPT fundraising coordinator, Jill, on 12 October 2024, for our first Hike towards Healing was held in the Peak District. An intimate group of our community embarked on a hike full of conversations, support for one another, sharing of experiences, and a powerful moment of reflection whereupon painted stones were gently laid in a quiet spot in honour of their experiences of ectopic pregnancy. You can read some of their thoughts from the day here.

I had such a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed the walk; it was great to get out and see another part of the country. It’s comforting to have got something positive out of something so tragic, I’m glad I met yourself (Jill) and others in the group.

I started walking after my ectopic, which really helped me mentally, I stopped after going back to work, thinking I never have time. Doing this challenge has got me back out, and it made me realise I do have time. Walking has made me feel better mentally again as I was starting to go back in a hole. I have really enjoyed doing it. Seeing the amazing sunsets each day.
