Bradley's story
In October 2021, Bradley’s sister and her husband faced the heartbreak of discovering their pregnancy was ectopic. It was a huge shock and everything happened so quickly – from diagnosis to emergency surgery. During that overwhelming time, they found themselves turning to The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust website for information, understanding and comfort, trying to make sense of it all.
Bradley shares:
“At the time it was very difficult for both of them. There were many hours where they trawled through The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust’s website to try to understand what was happening and what the future looked like, while also reaching out for support. Prior to being told about the pregnancy being ectopic, they really didn’t know much about it.”
Motivated by what his family had been through, Bradley signed up to run the Edinburgh Marathon in support of them, and The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.
“When I told them I was going to be running the Edinburgh marathon and doing it all in aid of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, they couldn’t have been prouder – until they started to see how much was being raised to support such a needed cause.”
Come race day, Bradley achieved what he set out to do:
“In the end, I ran the marathon in my target time of under four hours, having battled the sun, wind, rain and hail. The eight months of training were worth every moment, having broken the fundraising goal and getting over £1,000 for The EPT.”
Bradley ends with a heartfelt message:
“My family, my sister and her husband, and I want to thank everyone who has supported the completion of this fundraiser. We would also like to thank The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust for supporting countless people who need their support when they don’t know where to turn.”
We’re so grateful to Bradley for sharing his story and for the powerful impact he’s made through his fundraising. Every step of his marathon has helped raise awareness and vital funds for those affected by ectopic pregnancy.
