Rusne Runs in the Paris Marathon

Rusne's Story

I can’t even begin to put into words how amazing the day was. The crowds in Paris really came out to support all of the runners. I found the course quite challenging in some parts, especially when it came to the tunnels by the Seine. Unfortunately, I started experiencing some really sharp pain in my right hip at around 27K. This meant that I was half running/half walking to the finish line from 34K.

I feel immensely proud of myself for completing this challenge even after experiencing so many setbacks throughout my training (shin splints, twisted ankle, flu..).

I wanted to take on this challenge as I went through an Ectopic pregnancy myself in July 2023. At the time I didn’t know what an Ectopic pregnancy was which meant that I didn’t recognise the signs of it. This resulted in me being rushed into surgery for the removal of my fallopian tube as it had ruptured. For me, this was the darkest moment in my life and this was when I found out about the EPT. I remember sitting in the hospital bed and being handed a detailed leaflet which was written by the EPT. After being discharged from hospital I used the EPT website and forums for months as this was the only source of information that I could find at the time. Last year when I felt strong enough I signed up to run the Paris marathon for the EPT as I wanted to give back to a charity that does so much for other women going through similar situations. No one should ever have to go through this alone.

A huge thank you to Rusne for passionately taking on the Paris Marathon, raising essential funds and awareness for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.
