Sarah and Shane's Story

In December 2020 we found out we were experiencing an ectopic pregnancy,  the memory is still so clear in my mind of being sat opposite the doctor while Shane was waiting outside due to Covid restrictions and being told it’s an ectopic pregnancy. Once they explained I naively asked, can it be moved?  This was our first pregnancy, our hearts were broken. I received an injection the following day and was sent home not really understanding what had happened.

We then found The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, where we spent many hours scrolling through forums searching for answers, it allowed us to connect with other people who were sadly experiencing the same thing. But in all of this it gave us hope, by reading the positive stories of couples who had gone on to have successful pregnancies, this made the future that little bit less scary.

Pregnancy can be frightening, we never realised the heartache that it can sadly bring and having a place where you can talk about your feelings to people that really understand makes you feel less alone.

In 4 years we have been pregnant five times, although our hearts have been broken our two beautiful sons have healed us and we count ourselves so incredibly lucky to be their parents. We are blessed that we can now be one of those couples that can share a positive story to others who are going through an ectopic or any form of loss and show them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Cork City Half Marathon

The day was extremely warm but we both pushed on and made it to the end. Shane completed the run in 2 hours and 9 minutes. I completed it in 2 hours 42 minutes. It was physically challenging after only having a baby four months ago but I was determined to finish it for both the charity and my three angels.

We are also so proud of Sarah and Shane and thank them for their hard work training and raising such valuable funds and awareness.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to Sarah and Shane for their amazing work taking on this half marathon, raising much needed funds and awareness.
