Scott's Story
Three years ago my life was forever changed when I lost Hannah. Hannah was an intelligent, honest, beautiful and kind young woman who had so much to look forward to. She had just embarked on her career as a teacher and was already making a positive impact at her school. Hannah was the star in many people’s lives, but especially in mine. In honour of Hannah’s memory, I am aiming to continue to raise awareness of ectopic pregnancy and to raise funds in support of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust
The Kilimanjaro Climb
It was an amazing experience. Very humbling and emotional. Summit night was an incredible challenge with the altitude – sore head, feeling sick, cold and tired. It was the ultimate challenge and was harder than I thought it would be (I already thought it was going to be tough).
We were so well looked after by our tour company, guides, porters etc. They are the real unsung heroes of the mountain. I donated my boots to them at the end – some porters were climbing in loafers and trainers. It was very humbling seeing the local community on the way to/from the airport.
I met some fantastic people, our team was great. People from the UK, Canada, USA, and Hungary. It made all the difference. We shared stories and our reasons for doing the trip, so it was emotional sharing my story and talking about Hannah. The Canadians were older (I was the same ages as their children) so they really provided great care and encouragement. It was moving.
Our really huge and heartfelt thanks go to Scott for his incredibly brave challenge, raising essential funds and vital awareness.
