A poem written by a retired nurse whose daughter in law suffered an ectopic pregnancy

03 Oct 2025 | By Helen

Cry dead

the word ectopic
delivered into a womb of words
the full term of terminology
in a sac of tears
salpingostomy is was
a dry pebble in a mouth of silence
on a white page
the shroud is turned
in the tomes of names
every poem cries at the birth
in the minds of every reader

If I could say one thing: Although time is a great healer the fact that scars never fade away completely will be an unexpected comfort to you and to your family now and in the future
