Ben’s Finsbury Park 5k: Running for Awareness

16 Jun 2025 | By Kerri

Ben's story

Two years ago, Ben and his partner experienced a traumatic ectopic pregnancy, a near-death experience that opened their eyes to how little awareness and understanding there still is. Taking part in the Finsbury Park 5k was Ben’s way of helping to change that.

“We suffered an ectopic two years ago, and after our own traumatic, near-death experience and seeing the lack of awareness – especially within the medical industry – we knew more needs to be done. I hope the awareness brings more hope, more research, and more lives saved. We’re committed to putting the word out and helping more people understand what ectopic pregnancy is and how serious it can be.”

Ben shared how much he enjoyed running for the charity, and he’s already keen to do more in the future.

“I very much enjoyed running for the charity and would love to continue to do more for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. I managed to complete it in 33 minutes – I was aiming for around 40 due to not running for a long time, so I was really pleased!”

From all of us at The EPT – thank you, Ben, for your strength, your advocacy, and for helping to push the conversation forward with every stride.

If Ben has inspired you to take on a challenge of your own and support our work, we’d love to hear from you. Visit our fundraising page, or get in touch with our Fundraising and Campaigns Co-ordinator, Kerri, who’s always happy to help and guide you: kerri@ectopic.org.uk
