I’m pretty passionate about raising money for charity and am always looking for new ways to push myself to bigger challenges in order to do this.
This challenge was the biggest for me yet, rowing a marathon on the rowing machine. I’ve been training steadily all year, I must admit in January it seemed an impossible dream. However by November I’d reached 3/4 of the way and was feeling strong. Then I got hit by the flu, it knocked me for six and sadly meant I was unable to exercise for 5 weeks as my lungs were shot. So approaching the full distance on the 16th December was daunting and hard both mentally and physically.
But I did it! 4 hours, 3 mins and I couldn’t be happier. The last 5000m hurt so much and if it wasn’t for my amazing friends, boyfriend and members of the gig club I would probably of given up.
I’ve raised over £550 to be split between 3 charities including the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, my mainstay charity.
Thank you so much to Charlotte for her amazing support and undertaking such an gruelling challenge raising much needed funds and awareness.
