Emma runs in the Exeter 10k

Emma's Story

I chose to fundraise for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust by running in the Exeter 10k to support my brother and sister-in-law as they have sadly suffered from several ectopic pregnancies. The impact of an ectopic pregnancy lasts for a long-time after the event and can cause significant mental health struggles, particularly for those actively trying to conceive. I’m really glad I got to make an impact, however small, to support an amazing charity to provide vital and specialised support to women who sadly suffer from an ectopic pregnancy.

I started running again to train for the race a few months before by building up to longer runs of 6km, 8km and 10km. I acquired some metatarsal pain following the 10km and had to rest my foot from running for a couple of weeks but thankfully it healed for the race. The actual race went really well and I managed to get the exact same time as I had got running on a flat path at home, despite it being a hilly course!

Our huge thanks goes out to Emma for her heartfelt support taking on this 10k, raising much needed funds and awareness.
