Dear Care staff,
To me you weren’t just any nurse, it took me 3 days to learn your name was Holly which I’m sure you did tell me on the first night we met. You have no idea, and probably never will, of the impact you had on me over those few days.
I was completely isolated and alone and by that, I mean literally; Covid restrictions had me feeling lost and so lonely at a time when all I wanted was my partner or my mum for a hug to tell me everything was going to be alright.
I didn’t have my partner near me at all when I was taken in. I spent 2 days alone before surgery trying to figure so much out in my head and understand so many things the doctors were saying, so many doctors I don’t remember one of their names.
But I do remember yours. You held my hand the whole way through, you let me cry as much as I needed to, you listened even when I wasn’t speaking, you knew exactly what I needed in that time without me having to say it. I will forever remember and be grateful for you during one of the worst times in my life, you helped me more than you will ever know over those days and for that, Thank you Holly.
Nicole.
