Our volunteers are integral to everything we do as a community. From supporting our operations team in day-to-day activities, raising vital awareness, raising funds by taking on spectacular challenges and events, to contributing behind the scenes – their dedication and generosity ensures that no one has to face an ectopic pregnancy alone.
Many of our volunteers support us after experiencing an ectopic pregnancy themselves. Their strength, empathy, and willingness to share and support others helps create a space of genuine understanding and connection – which is invaluable to those navigating ectopic pregnancy, its uncertainties, and ongoing recovery.
This week, we are proud to be sharing stories from some of our volunteers. Their words reflect the impact of volunteering, not only for those receiving support but also for those giving it. These stories demonstrate the profound importance of community, compassion, and lived experience.
Meet some of our volunteers
Hayley

Hayley has been involved with The EPT by reviewing information resources, sharing wellbeing messages, and contributing video content for Baby Loss Awareness Week. Her thoughtful input and lived experience have helped shape content that is both supportive and sensitive to the needs of our community.
“I wanted to volunteer for The EPT because I have been through two ectopic pregnancies myself and wanted to help others going through the same thing.
It makes me feel so proud to be a volunteer for such a worthy cause, but it has also helped me with coming to terms with what happened.”
We are incredibly grateful to Hayley for her contributions and for so generously sharing her time and her story. Her involvement is a powerful example of how volunteering can be both healing and impactful.
Amy

Amy has supported The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust over the past few years by reviewing resources and contributing to blog posts, helping us ensure that our information is clear, accurate, and compassionate.
“I began volunteering because when I had my ectopic pregnancy 10 years ago, I was terrified and had no idea what was happening to my body. I found The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust website and found the information super helpful—so I decided I’d give something back, so that when other women go through the same, they don’t feel alone.”
Amy’s insight and dedication help us create the kind of content she once needed – reliable, reassuring, and rooted in lived experience. Her involvement reflects the very heart of our community: people turning difficult personal experiences into meaningful support for others.
“The work they do is amazing and they are all so friendly and helpful.”
We are so grateful to Amy for being part of our volunteer team and helping us ensure that no one facing ectopic pregnancy has to navigate it without support.
Katarzyna

Katarzyna has generously shared her time and skills with The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust by translating vital information into Polish – her first language. Her work on our ectopic pregnancy leaflets has made key details about the condition, its treatment options, and available support more accessible to the Polish speaking community.
She has also played a role in improving the wider user experience by providing feedback on the multi-language versions of our symptoms animation and helping with a Support Forum survey to strengthen our online support spaces.
“After my ectopic pregnancy, I joined an EPT online meeting just hours after leaving the hospital. I was overwhelmed and unsure, but the understanding and support I received from The EPT were life-changing. I felt seen and safe. That experience made me want to give something back.”
“I contacted Munira and asked how I could help. She suggested volunteering and I said yes immediately. Translating the leaflets felt like something I could do to make sure that others, especially those who speak Polish, wouldn’t feel as alone or confused as I did.”
“Volunteering is so meaningful to me. Ectopic pregnancy still isn’t widely talked about, and in many communities it’s barely understood. If I can help raise awareness or make it easier for even one person to find the support they need, then every bit of time I give is worth it.”
We are so thankful to Katarzyna for her compassion, her insight, and for using her lived experience to help others navigate their own.
Amardeep

Amardeep began her journey with The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust during an incredibly difficult time – one marked not only by personal loss but by global lockdowns that made grief feel even more isolating.
“I knew early on in my interactions with The EPT that I would one day return and give something back. When the world was locked down, I was locked into the grief, shock and trauma surrounding the loss of my longed for baby.”
“With nowhere to escape and no way to process what I was feeling, it was a gentle voice at the end of the phone that changed everything. The understanding, empathy and support I was shown helped me, in time, get back to myself and back to life.”
Since then, Amardeep has volunteered her skills to review website content and edit personal stories, helping ensure others feel the same sense of connection and care that meant so much to her.
“Reviewing website copy and editing the stories of others who have experienced something similar is just one small way I can give back and say thank you.”
Her thoughtful contributions help shape the compassionate tone of our resources and ensure the voices of our community are shared with dignity and clarity.
We’re so grateful to Amardeep for her kindness, perspective and generosity, and for turning her pain into purpose to help others feel less alone.
Meet Alex

Thirteen years ago, Alex experienced a miscarriage followed by a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, which led to emergency surgery. It was a life-changing time, and one that has stayed with her ever since.
“13 years ago I suffered a miscarriage, followed by a ruptured ectopic pregnancy which led to emergency surgery. Once I started to come to terms with what had happened, I realised just how little I knew about baby loss – the symptoms and the impact.”
That experience led Alex to seek out ways to support others and raise awareness, and ultimately to volunteer with The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.
“This led to me to volunteer with the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust – it was an opportunity to make just a small difference and meet others who had been through the same experience. Life changed dramatically for me 13 years ago, the events remain with me and always will, but I think it is so positive that charities such as The EPT are playing a critical role in raising awareness and providing essential support.”
Over the years, Alex has supported The EPT with a range of tasks, from reviewing website content and user acceptance testing, to contributing her voice to the Baby Loss Certificate scheme user research.
“The EPT volunteering I have been involved with is reviewing web content, and ad hoc tasks such as user acceptance testing for changes to the web site. I also participated in user research for the Baby Loss Certificate scheme that was introduced last year, which I am particularly proud of.”
We are so thankful to Alex for all she brings to The EPT – her time, her insight, and her willingness to use her lived experience to help others feel seen and supported.
