The EPT 12 Days of Reflection: Honouring Ectopic Pregnancy Loss
With the year drawing to a close, we continue to extend a gentle hand of support to those navigating the complexities of ectopic pregnancy loss. On 1 December, we start our ’12 Days of Reflection’, dedicated to marking we have achieved together as a community and offering support to those affected by ectopic pregnancy. We invite you to join us in shining a light on the impacts of ectopic pregnancy, together, illuminating the path towards healing and hope. Your presence counts and your kindness makes a difference.
Every year in the UK, nearly 12,000 women face the challenging diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy, according to the 2024 MBRRACE-UK Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Deaths and Morbidity 2020–22. Yet, anecdotal evidence suggests that the actual number of cases could exceed 30,000 annually in the UK alone. These statistics underscore the importance of our mission and the urgency of our cause. With your support, we can make a profound impact in the lives of those affected by ectopic pregnancy, offering vital resources, information, support, and hope.
See below how you can get involved with your friends, family and colleagues for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust this winter and in 2025.
25 Years of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust
The end of 2024 brings a quarter of a century of The EPT providing reliable information and support on ectopic pregnancy – with community and empathy at our heart. As we start a new chapter, we extend heartfelt thanks to everyone that has been a part of making the charity what it is today. We also welcome our new Chair, Rachel Small, and Trustee, Amara Bello. We look forward to working alongside them, going from strength to strength, advocating for the best care possible for all affected by the condition.
Dedicate a Treasured Tulip
In honouring and remembering our experiences, we come together to find comfort and connection. Our virtual Treasured Tulips are a meaningful way to dedicate a lasting tribute – whether for yourself, a loved one, or someone who has touched your life. Each tulip stands as a symbol of remembrance and support, and reminds us that, even in loss, we’re never alone.
You can dedicate a tulip here.
Make a purchase or send an e-card
Our online shop is filled with thoughtful items that the EPT team has carefully chosen or created with you in mind. Whether it’s a beautiful memory bracelet to wear close, or a comforting teddy to offer support during difficult moments, each product is designed with care and compassion. Every purchase helps raise vital funds for the charity.
If you’re a bit behind on sending Christmas cards, consider sending an e-card instead. You can make a donation of your choice, offering a meaningful gift in place of a traditional card.
Light the way with a 5/10k
Many of our community have expressed how having space to reflect, remember, and process their experiences and pregnancies whilst doing something as part of an online community has helped their journey.
We invite you to join in our brand new virtual 5 or 10k, to light the way for others embarking on a similar path and to support ectopic pregnancy awareness.
You can choose from a 5 or 10k distance which you can complete on a date and in a location that is best for you. Take part alone, or as part of a group. Each registration will receive a beautiful eco-friendly keepsake to recognise your achievement and support.

Support The EPT as a business
Your business can make a big difference by partnering with The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust to get behind a hidden women’s health issue. You can not only help raise awareness of what can be a life-threatening experience, but also stand behind the many people and families sadly affected by pregnancy and baby loss, now and in the future.
You can help our small charity save lives, advance much needed education (in and out of the workplace), and provide crucial support to anyone who finds themselves navigating this devastating experience. Find out how we can make a difference, together, here.
Donate to make a difference
The EPT is dedicated to offering support to anyone affected by ectopic pregnancy. Recognising that each person’s journey is unique, we provide a variety of resources so that they can select a method of support that feels most comfortable for them. Whether through a one-to-one callback, online support groups, online community forums, or email support, our goal is to be reachable in a way that feels right for each person, at no cost to them.
To help keep these vital resources free of charge to those who turn to us, you can donate £12 and help us support the 12,000 individuals diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy each year.
If you would like to make a regular impact, you can pledge to donate £12 a month, over 12 months, by selecting ‘Make this donation monthly’.
As a charity that receives no government funding, every penny is put to good use with you at the very heart of all of our activities.
Coping at Christmas
The effects of an ectopic pregnancy can be felt all year round, and we understand how Christmas can serve as a poignant reminder of ‘what could have been.’ Social media is often filled with family photos, visits to Father Christmas, and festive celebrations, which can sometimes amplify the sense of isolation that often accompanies such a loss. In our Coping at Christmas blog, we share words of comfort, hope, and practical advice from the EPT team and our supporters to help navigate this challenging time. Whatever approach you take in the weeks ahead, please remember—you are not alone.
